Free Bra Fittings over the Phone!

Did you know that A Little Lingerie Company now offers free bra fittings over the telephone?

Here’s what one of our long-distance customers had to say about her telephone fitting:

I never knew that lingerie could fit so well! With your coaching I was able to finally get the proper bra size. I had been personally fitted at Victoria's Secret and the size was not right. Who would have thought that I could get better results with someone 3,000 miles away. And the style that you suggested was better than anything that I would have picked out. Thank you. I can't wait to make my next purchase.

Fashion Tips for Plus Size Women

Keys to a Sleek Silhouette:

* Opt for a monochromatic outfit where your top and skirt or trousers are the same color or hue.

* Wear blazer and cardigans long and unbuttoned for maximum vertical lines.

* Oblong scarves are a great accessory when tied loosely around the neck, creating a long, vertical line. (Our Secret Delights Lingerie Gift-o-Gram includes a gorgeous Italian scarf!)

* Match pantyhose hue to skirt or pant and shoe color to create a slender silhouette.

* Avoid chokers, long necklaces or pendants are more slimming.

* Choose shoes with at least a 1 inch heel -- the taller the better.

* Elongate the neck with open necklines such as v-necks, sweetheart necklines and vertical cowl necks.

Women's Equality Day is Today!

Today is Women's Equality Day - August 26, 2005. Let's celebrate this every day!

Women's Equality Day celebrates women's right to vote. This year marks the 85 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

AAUW's tradition of actively pursuing equity dates back to its earliest days. Consider this...

* In 1917, college women stood vigil outside the White House, protesting the fact that women could not vote. With this action, these women became the first group to picket the White House for a political cause.

* Years later, determined AAUW members did not let a wartime ban on conventions stop their progress. innovative holding a "paper convention" by mail.

* Today, AAUW continues its active advocacy on behalf of women and girls by lobbying Congress, educating voters, and influencing the debate on critical issues.

In June 2005, AAUW continued its tradition of progress by approving a new programmatic theme "Education as the Gateway to Women’s Economic Security." This new direction ensures focuses efforts not only on AAUW's core mission of equity and education, but also ensures that gains in education are reflected in all areas and at all points in a women's lives.

Desperate Housewives’ Marcia Cross Needs Bridal Lingerie

Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross doesn't just have an Emmy nomination – she has a fiancé.

The 43-year-old actress, who plays perfectionist Bree Van De Kamp on the hit ABC show, is engaged to stockbroker Tom Mahoney, 47. She accepted his proposal last weekend, her publicist, Heidi Slan, tells PEOPLE.

"The happy couple have not set a date for the wedding yet," Slan says. It will be the first marriage for both.

Cody Kasch, who plays troubled teen Zach Young on the hit series, tells PEOPLE he’s thrilled for his costar. "There go my chances then," he joked, and added, "I'm very happy for Marcia. She's a great lady."

Cross and Mahoney were spotted enjoying a romantic ski weekend trip to Deer Valley, Utah, last March.

The month before, the actress was denying rumors that she's gay, following Internet reports claiming that one of the Housewives stars was planning to come out of the closet. Cross, appearing on The View, said she was puzzled by the rumors.

"It's very odd and I assume this is what comes of being 42 and single," she said. "I don't know if they just needed to find a reason why I wasn't married or – I mean, I'm not (a lesbian)."

Before Housewives, Cross's TV credits included Melrose Place and Knots Landing.

When Housewives producers suggested she audition for the role of vampy Edie, "I said, 'Oh, I'm too tired. You need a Nicollette,'" Cross told PEOPLE last year.

Still, hypercritical Bree "is so not who I am," she said. "I am free and sloppy and comfortable." The actress, who earned a psychology degree in 2002, says she plans to practice someday: "I don't see (psychology) as a fallback."

What does A Little Lingerie Company have that Victoria’s Secret doesn’t?

This is a question that I get asked a lot. So, here it is, Six Reasons to Choose A Little Lingerie Company over Victoria’s Secret (and over BareNecessities.com and Figleaves.com and Herroom.com and the department store and …)

1. Bilingual Spanish/English Website. A Little Lingerie Company is proud to have an entirely bilingual website, with every page available in both Spanish and English – just click “Hablamos Español” at the top of the page. Our customer service desk is fully bilingual, as well, so we are able to respond to all emails and telephone calls in either language.

2. Personal Service. One thing you can be sure of when shopping with A Little Lingerie Company is that we care about each one of our customers. We are always delighted to help you choose the perfect lingerie – whether it’s for your wedding, your anniversary, or every day. 3. Bra Fittings. A Little Lingerie Company offers free bra fittings to help women learn what to look for when they go shopping for a bra. Not only do we do personal bra fittings locally in Vermont, but we also do them long-distance. Just give us a call and we’ll talk you through it. We’ll show you how to measure yourself properly, talk with you about problems you have with your bras – red marks, shoulder straps that slip, etc. – and help you figure out which bra would be the best choice for you. See our A Little Lingerie Company Fitting Guide for more fitting tips.

4. Preferences Database. The Customer Preference Database helps us keep track of your preferred sizes, styles, and colors. Anyone who shops with us or gets a free fitting also gets entered in our database, so the next time you want to order, we can help make sure you get something you like. Even better, with your permission, we can help your special someone get you something you’ll like. This information is not shared or sold.

5. Lingerie Gift-o-Grams. Our Lingerie Gift-o-Grams are a wonderful, romantic gift idea. They combine the beauty of our lingerie, with wonderful specialty gifts, all made in Vermont. Taking Time for Yourself

How many of us take some time each day to do our favorite things? Whether we want to daydream or watch a DVD or go for a run, how often do we let ourselves indulge?

I have been running myself ragged all through spring and summer, and have only now realized how exhausted I’ve made myself. I decided I had to reconsider my priorities and re-arrange my schedule to allow more down time.

A Little Lingerie Company’s Vision Statement says “the only one who gets to define you is you.” Defining our schedule and making time for ourselves is part of that.

Inspiration

I want to blog today on something other than lingerie – how’s that for a change? This week I received a wonderful email from a woman telling me that the story of how I decided to change careers (see A Word from the President) gave her the encouragement she needed to make changes in her own life.

Of course, the first thing I did upon reading this email was give her a call. I was amazed to learn all that she’s accomplished in her life - it turns out she has been in business far longer than I have, and her stories made me feel I could achieve even more than I’d hoped.

In inspiring her, she inspired me. Fabulous.
