Bridal Lingerie from A Little Lingerie Company

You may have noticed reduced blogging on this site over the past week. That’s because I have been busy overhauling the A Little Lingerie Company website (www.alittlelingeriecompany.com).

Now it is even more user-friendly – with easy links under each category to take you to, for example, plus sizes in bras, thongs and panties, and lingerie sets. You’ll also now find a category for AA and A cup bras.

Moreover, there is now a section just for bridal lingerie, including bras, panties, thongs, lingerie sets, and fripperies. You can also now search our lingerie categories by manufacturer. We currently carry lines from Panache, Grenier, Angelie Plus, Volage, Volage Plus, and Ascension.

Stay tuned for all that’s coming in July: more bridal lingerie, including bodysuits and merrywidows (including plus sizes!) and Lingerie Gift-o-Grams.

Our Lingerie Gift-o-Grams feature not only our fabulous lingerie, but wonderful Vermont-made specialty foods and beauty products.

Nothing but the best from A Little Lingerie Company!

A Little Lingerie Wisdom: Choose a workout that makes you feel beautiful.

I started working out regularly when I was 15 years old, when I fell in love with aerobics and Charlene Prickett’s cable program. Every evening I raced in front of the television and jumped and kicked and sweated like crazy. I did different aerobics programs for the rest of my teens, until at 19 I discovered belly dancing. It turned out that Cassandra Shore, one of the world’s best belly dancers lived in Minneapolis, my hometown, so I thought I’d give it a try. And here I am, 18 years later, still belly dancing.

What I like best about it is that every time I dance, I feel beautiful. I see the grace it has helped me develop, and how it gives me an expression for whatever it is I’m feeling. It helps me see that I am beautiful already, and lets me revel in that, rather than try to fix some “target area.”

How many of you feel beautiful after your work out? What work out do you do?

Bras, Body Image, and Self-Esteem

Yesterday I was on the web looking at a message board on health and beauty and I saw a message from a woman who was a 30A, nursing a new baby, and feeling insecure about her cup size. This I could understand – we all feel insecure from time to time.

What I could not understand was the way all those responding to her message decided the best way to help her feel good again was to trash women of larger cup size. Most of the trashing had to do with how larger cup sizes sag and look awful as women age.

Well, as a woman who is a 32D and not sagging at all, I was, needless to say, not amused. I wish we as women could learn to be happy with our bodies and not feel we have to trash others' shapes. All women's shapes are beautiful, just as all hair colors are beautiful.

So, let me take this opportunity to say again what I wrote on that board: This insecurity comes from within ourselves, from a fear that we are not good enough as we are, a fear played on by the media and cultural standards of beauty.

So what to do about our insecurities? In my experience, the quickest and most effective way to deal with body image problems is to remind yourself that you are beautiful the way you are. Yet, at the same time, allow yourself to feel insecure when those feelings arise. It takes more strength to fight the feelings of insecurity by reassuring yourself than it does to let them speak to you. The more you listen to them, while knowing that it's not real - just a feeling - the more you will understand what is triggering the insecurity, and the less of a problem it will be.

It's like crying out feelings of sadness. You may know the unhappy situation is resolved and all is well, but you still need to let yourself cry out the pain that was already there.

Try this out and let us know how it worked for you!

Miss Vermont Contestants Receive Lingerie from A Little Lingerie Company

I am very pleased that A Little Lingerie Company was asked to be a corporate sponsor of this year’s Miss Vermont pageant. Not only did we provide a gift of lingerie to each contestant, but I was also invited to help them with their practice interviews.

The experience made quite an impression on me. These young women were poised, bright, and very dedicated to their platforms and causes. I was also very pleased at how much feedback the program directors provided to each contestant, and how supportive the atmosphere was.

In my ignorance, I had expected the discussion to center on fashion and beauty. In reality, it focused on public speaking and presentation skills. And, interestingly enough, it helped me learn a lesson I have struggled with for years.

I had always thought, in my rebellious youth, that dressing for success was about hiding your true self in order to play a role. Only lately have I seen how mistaken I was. I now see that dressing for success is about feeling confident enough in who you are to let your inner self really shine through. When you know who you are and what you want to say, then putting on clothes appropriate to that role becomes putting on clothes that are honestly representing who you are. To me, that’s important, and not just at work, but in any situation – that I feel comfortable enough in who I am and what I’m doing to let that shine forth to those around me.

The new Miss Vermont will be crowned July 3. In addition to the lovely Short Stuff stretch lace boyshort awarded to each contestant by A Little Lingerie Company, the new Miss Vermont 2005 will receive a gift certificate for the bra and panty set of her choosing.

We at A Little Lingerie Company wish all the contestants the best of luck and all the success in the world!

Lingerie Gifts for Miss Vermont Contestants

A Little Lingerie Company is pleased to be participating in this year’s Miss Vermont Program. We will be giving Short Stuff BoyShorts to the contestants, and, for the winner, a bra and panty set of her choosing.

This all came as a surprise to me - I have never been involved in a pageant before. In fact, everything I know about pageants comes from watching Miss Congeniality (“Be the crown, you are the crown”).

The whole thing came together when I ran into the father of one of the pageant sponsors while waiting in line at the bank. We got to talking and he asked if I’d be willing to make a donation. Needless to say, I was more than happy to do so, and now I get the fun of preparing gift bags for the contestants and helping out with their practice interviews. Even better, plans are already in the works to have me back next year to give workshops to the contestants on body image and health.

I’ll keep you posted on what happens at the interviews!
