Miss Vermont Contestants Receive Lingerie from A Little Lingerie Company

I am very pleased that A Little Lingerie Company was asked to be a corporate sponsor of this year’s Miss Vermont pageant. Not only did we provide a gift of lingerie to each contestant, but I was also invited to help them with their practice interviews.

The experience made quite an impression on me. These young women were poised, bright, and very dedicated to their platforms and causes. I was also very pleased at how much feedback the program directors provided to each contestant, and how supportive the atmosphere was.

In my ignorance, I had expected the discussion to center on fashion and beauty. In reality, it focused on public speaking and presentation skills. And, interestingly enough, it helped me learn a lesson I have struggled with for years.

I had always thought, in my rebellious youth, that dressing for success was about hiding your true self in order to play a role. Only lately have I seen how mistaken I was. I now see that dressing for success is about feeling confident enough in who you are to let your inner self really shine through. When you know who you are and what you want to say, then putting on clothes appropriate to that role becomes putting on clothes that are honestly representing who you are. To me, that’s important, and not just at work, but in any situation – that I feel comfortable enough in who I am and what I’m doing to let that shine forth to those around me.

The new Miss Vermont will be crowned July 3. In addition to the lovely Short Stuff stretch lace boyshort awarded to each contestant by A Little Lingerie Company, the new Miss Vermont 2005 will receive a gift certificate for the bra and panty set of her choosing.
